A fridge is not an appliance that can be left faulty for long. Unlike many other household appliances, it works day and night to keep food fresh and safe. So when it stops cooling properly, starts making unusual noise, leaks water or builds up too much ice, it is better to deal with the problem quickly.
Sometimes the fault is obvious: food starts going bad sooner than usual, milk is not cold, the freezer does not freeze properly, or water appears on the floor. In other cases, the signs are more subtle: the motor runs constantly, the temperature changes for no clear reason, or ice forms where it should not.

Why a fridge may stop cooling properly

It can also happen that the fridge still seems to be working, but does not keep a stable temperature. In that case, it may cool for a while and then lose cold air again, which affects how well food is preserved.
That is why it is not enough to check whether the light comes on or whether the motor is making noise. A fridge can look active and still fail to cool properly. During the inspection, we check how the appliance behaves, the internal temperature, the airflow, the door seal and the parts that affect cooling.
Signs that your fridge needs to be checked
Some symptoms should not be ignored. They may seem minor at first, but they can lead to a more serious fault or cause food to spoil.

Unstable temperature and food spoiling too quickly
One of the most frustrating problems is when the fridge no longer keeps a steady temperature. It may seem to cool, but food does not last as long as before, drinks are not cold enough, or some products spoil earlier than they should.
This may be caused by a faulty sensor, an incorrectly working thermostat, poor airflow, a door that does not close properly or an electronic control fault. In No Frost models, hidden ice may also block the flow of cold air.
We check the real temperature inside the appliance and see whether the cold air is being distributed properly. This helps us understand whether the problem is in the control system, ventilation, door seal or another internal component.
Freezer working, but fridge section not cooling
In some fridge freezers, the freezer may seem to work normally while the fridge section does not cool. This is quite common in combined models and may be caused by airflow problems, sensors, internal dampers, ice buildup or a fault in the No Frost system.
Sometimes the appliance seems fine because the freezer is still freezing. However, if cold air is not reaching the fridge section properly, food in the upper part can spoil even though the freezer works.
During the diagnosis, we check how cold air moves between the two sections and whether there are blockages, ice buildup or faulty parts affecting the airflow.
Too much ice and No Frost problems
A No Frost fridge should not fill with visible ice or need frequent manual defrosting. If ice appears at the back, on the walls, near the fan or inside the freezer, there may be a problem with the defrost system.
The fault may be in the defrost heater, temperature sensor, timer, fan, electronic board or drain channel. A door that does not close properly or a worn seal can also contribute to ice buildup, because warm air enters the appliance and creates moisture.
It is not a good idea to remove ice with metal objects or force internal parts. This can damage the evaporator, air channels or inner lining. If needed, it is safer to switch the appliance off and request a technical inspection.
Water inside the fridge or on the floor
If water appears inside the fridge, under the drawers or on the floor, the cause may be a blocked drain, ice blocking the channel, a misplaced evaporation tray, an internal leak or poor levelling.
In many cases, the water starts as a small puddle and comes back every few days. If it is not fixed, it can cause bad smells, moisture, damage to nearby furniture or even affect electrical components.

Apart from being annoying, a fridge that is working too hard can use more energy and wear out its components faster. That is why it is worth checking the cause of unusual noise or continuous running.
Door seals and loss of cold air
Sometimes the problem is not in the motor or electronics, but in something simpler: the door does not close properly or the seals are worn. When the seal is not tight, warm air enters the fridge, moisture builds up, ice forms and the appliance has to work harder to keep the right temperature.
Door seals can become hard, deformed, loose or less effective over time. There may also be a problem with the hinges, the appliance level or the door alignment.
We check the door closure, seals, hinges and general adjustment of the fridge. If the loss of cold air comes from this area, repairing it in time can improve performance and help avoid bigger faults.
Electronic faults and control panel issues
Many modern fridges rely on sensors, electronic boards and digital panels to regulate temperature, activate holiday mode, control the freezer or manage the No Frost system.
If the panel does not respond, shows an error, changes temperature by itself or the appliance behaves irregularly, the fault may be electronic. It can also happen that a sensor sends an incorrect reading, causing the fridge to cool too much, too little or switch off too early.
